Description

Soooo . . . I'm leaving for Nagoya in 10 days. (Less than that, really, cuz the day I leave doesn't really count, as I leave @ 5 am and won't really see it. ^^;) And today I was supposed to be real productive and do stuff like get my traveler's cheques and my cash yen and make a packing list. All I got was a whole lotta nothin when I found out that nobody in Illinois or Iowa (or, assumedly, the entire United States) offers traveler's cheques in yen. So I came home and didn't wanna pack. And I didn't wanna study my kanji, And I didn't really wanna read my new travel book that cost my 30 friggin dollars yesterday. But I'm not supposed to be drawing! Especially if it isn't more pages for my supposed manga. I need to be practical, responsible, all that shiat. :ignore: So I decided to wrap a birthday present for my friend Carla, cuz tha's practical. Then I wrote a lil note in the card. Then I started noticing that the other half of the inside looked kinda blank, and there was this "Peach Girl" manga book she'd loaned me sittin on my desk, and Miwa Ueda is her fav manga-ka, so I thought I'd just go ahead and do a quick lil Ueda-style sketch of Momo. Then I decided to ink it, cuz my pens were all right there. Then I added sum lil accents with the purple jelly pen I used to sign the card. And then the colored pencils mysteriously found their way into my hands and way-too-many minutes later I had this sloppy lil thing. *SIGH* I have no self-control.
And by the way, huuuuuge kudos to ms. Ueda, cuz I can't do hair like she does. I'm not used to working with this much hair, and in so much detail. It's been a long time since I've colored anything at all by hand. (I'll hafta put sum of my old colored stuff up here sum time, just to embarass myself . . . .)
This also spurred an investigation on my part to figure out the difference between "ganguro" and "kogyaru." (Momo is kogyaru.) I know all the different levels of kogyaru now, but am not gonna waste any more of anybody's time by explaining that here. I think you've had enough of my blithering.
Ya, so this is a gifty image for in honor of her forthcoming birfday. :cake: (You'll get it when I come out to see you next week, Lalees!)
